Thank you West Vancouver, Bowen Island, and Lions Bay for re-electing me for a second term as School Trustee in WVSD! I absolutely love this role. It is a continuation of my diverse career in education. To be re-elected and to have your continued trust and confidence in me is the greatest honour!
As a teacher, I wanted my students to fulfill their potential, and for them to be happy, resilient, socially responsible, life-long learners. I wanted them to be equipped with the knowledge, skills and expertise to be able to problem solve, collaborate, cooperate, brainstorm and resolve conflict. And as a Trustee, I want the same for all our students in our school district.
These past four years have been quite challenging for all involved – students, parents, teachers and staff. And I could not be more proud of our collective efforts to ensure that our children were safe, healthy and continued to receive an excellent education.
Even though the next four years will involve other challenges, by working together with our staff, our parents, our elected officials, our community members and organizations, and the Squamish Nation, we will continue to ensure our students have the best education possible in a thriving and harmonious school district.
I'd like to offer my congratulations to my fellow school trustees Carolyn Broady, Nicole Brown, and Dave Stevenson, all re-elected for another term. I also want to thank Sheelah Donahue for her dedication, service and incredible work ethic for our school district during her time as a school trustee. I would also like to congratulate and welcome Felicia Zhu to our school board team - I look forward to working with you.
And a special thanks to my family for their unwavering support and encouragement. And to my three grandchildren who are beginning to enter our school district - you and all our students are my inspiration moving-forward. I want our school system to constantly evolve, improve and innovate.
Thank you again, West Vancouver, Bowen Island and Lions Bay! I am honoured and thrilled to have your trust moving forward!
